Dr. F. Batmanghelidj wrote this book to show the importance that water has on the body. Dr. Batmanghelidj was a political prisoner. While incarcerated and facing death by execution, he found that drinking two glasses of water helped relieve his peptic ulcer pain. He also helped treat other prisoners with their pain by giving them water to drink.

In this book, Dr. Batmanghelidj lists 46 reasons why your body needs water every day. Some of the reasons listed are as follows:

*Water is necessary to help prevent clogging of arteries in the heart and brain

*Water helps the immune system to combat infections and cancer cells

*Water helps with depression

*Water is necessary to help with sleep disorders

*Water can give you more energy

*Water helps aid with strong bone formation

*Water helps prevent glaucoma
