Lincoln’s Bodyguard: In A Heroic Act Of Bravery Saves Our Beloved President! John Wilkes Booth Killed In Act Of Treason by TJ Turner

Lincoln's Bodyguard

Lincoln’s Bodyguard” examines the idea of what would have happened had Lincoln not died on that fateful nite at Ford’s Theater. TJ Turner had done an excellent job at creating a novel of alternate history, in the spirit of the great alternative history master, Harry Turtledove.

This book takes the reader on a fascinating trip through an alternative time line, where the Civil War ended only on paper and rebellion was smoldering not just in the former Confederacy but also in the Western part of the young United States. In this version of history, Lincoln not only completes his 2nd term but serves yet a 3rd term, largely due to Congress declining to impose term limits on the Office. The Office is beginning to wear on him and he has become more of a puppet than the puppeteer, due to the politics of the day.

I recommend this book to all history buffs and gladly give it 4/5 stars. If this debut novel is any indication, TJ Turner has a bright writing career ahead of him.
