Home Front by Kristin Hannah

Home FrontReviewed by Julie Moderson

Kristin Hannah always writes great novels but Home Front is an amazing. It is so well written that you feel as if you have a friend telling you a story.

It is a story about love and friendship between two women that is so compelling you can see yourself in it. It is about family dynamics and what makes us work as a couple and as a family. The story is about being a soldier and how they function and stay strong as an individual and as a unit.

Jolene is a wife, mother and soldier. Her marriage is in a place that she and her husband Michael seem to have forgotten how to care about each other. When Jolene’s unit is told that they are going to Iraq, instead of becoming more supportive of each other, they pull apart. Jo is going to war with her best friend Tami and tells her family that they will be far from the dangerous areas. Michael is terrified and has no idea what to do with their two young daughters when Jo leaves. What is their schedule? How on earth can he possibility do everything his wife did?

When the worst possible thing happens what will Jo and Michael do? Will it destroy them or make them? This is a must read if you have a best friend, a spouse, or someone in the military. It is about love.
