Searching for Tina Turner by Jacqueline E. Luckett

tinaReviewed by Nancy Eaton

Randall seemed to have it all. He had a high-ranking job and made the money to go with it. However, this did not seem to be enough. Randall wanted to reach the top – one day he would like to be the CEO. It didn’t seem to matter to Randall that his wife, Lena, did so much to help him reach the top. She always put her husband and children first.

With all this said, one can truly understand why Lena was not happy. As they say, money cannot buy happiness. Randall only seemed to care about his career and her children had other problems. Her son developed a drug habit and her daughter was tired of her mother being “overbearing”.

Lena wanted to save her marriage. She and Randall attended counseling sessions but it became very clear that Randall could not understand why Lena was unhappy and believed it was all her fault. He gave her an ultimatum – be happy with everything you have or leave!

Lena decided to leave. She now felt it was time to do something for herself. For their first date, Randall took Lena to a Tina Turner concert. She drew strength from Tina Turner and after reading her life story Lena wanted to travel to Europe to meet Tina.

While on this trip, something happens that really changes Lena’s life!

One would think that by the title, Searching for Tina Turner, this would be a just a fun book. However, it covers much more serious issues and the author does a good job of making them clear to the reader. The author was very creative by using the name of a real person in a fictional story and this helps add some fun to it all. The reader will want to cheer on Lena as she begins her quest to do something for herself for a change. I’m sure many women will relate to the issues in Searching for Tina Turner. This is an entertaining read and one with come-to-life characters that will make you want to take sides.
