A River in the Sky by Elizabeth Peters
While the basic plot elements and characters are similar to the other Peabody books, setting the book in Palestine in the years leading up to World War I made it a cut above the most of the rest of the series.

The Laughter of Dead Kings by Elizabeth Peters
I normally love Elizabeth Peters, and for those who are fans of the Amelia Peabody or Vicky Bliss series, this is one to read, despite the unimaginative plot, just for certain links it makes to the Amelia Peabody series, as long as you are prepared to not be completely entertained..
