Franzicco Ragoczy di Santo-Germano, also known as the vampire
Saint-Germain, is living a good life as a successful merchant in
Venice. In fact, his lifestyle has attracted much
attention. However, his strong connection to the papacy has
protected him. In any case, he and his mistress are the
victims of others spying on them.
Rogoczy learns that he has
to travel to the Spanish Netherlands where he owns a publishing
business. While there, Rogoczy and writer, Erneste van
Amsteljaxter are accused of heresy. Rogoczy soon discovers he
must return to Venice because there are many problems. His
fortune has been embezzled away and his mistress has
disappeared.
Once he arrives in Venice he finds
several more problems. A young man who has been spying
on St. Germain has disappeared. Another spy has discovered
something about St. Germain. What is it? How does St.
Germain manage to get out of this one?
When Chelsea Quinn Yarbro
writes another book about the vampire Saint-Germain, readers know
they are in for a special treat. What makes this book all the
more interesting is the fact that it is also a historical
novel. The book is well written and the author always does
such an excellent job with detailed descriptions. Do yourself
a favor and read this book by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. If you are not
already a fan of Saint-Germain, you certainly will be when you have
finished reading this very entertaining book.
