Juanita admits that she ran away from home but she states she
really wasn't running away from her life - she was running away from
no life. She decided to go to Paper Moon, Montana via a
Greyhound bus. Her family thought she was "losing it".
After spending some time in Montana and finding a home,
friends and a man who loved her, she decided once again it was time
to move on. The man who loved her was Jess. He said he
would be there waiting for her when she got back. What more
could she ask for?
Juanita wanted to see the world.
Peaches Bradshaw, her friend, worked as a truck driver.
Juanita rode along with Peaches. Jess had an old friend,
Yancey, who he met in the service. Yancey now owned a
four-star restaurant. Jess saved Yancey's life in the
service. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for Jess.
Jess arranged for Juanita and Peaches to have dinner at Yancey's
restaurant.
While at the restaurant, Juanita began to
wonder if she could be a chef. She just couldn't stand the
thought of going back to school. She did land a cooking job at
a spa for skinny celebrities.
Something happened that
Juanita didn't expect. She learned that her friend, Millie
Tilson, died and bequeathed her Paper Moon bed and breakfast to
Juanita. Juanita decides to head home. In her mind, she
wanted to make the bed and breakfast the best that anyone could
find.
What does Juanita decide to do about Jess?
This book is an excellent read. It has a great cast of
characters especially the main character, Juanita, who is a strong
willed woman. She wanted to go on and find a new life after a
stormy first marriage. Peaches also adds much to the
story. She adds a great deal of humor to the book. Juanita shows the
reader that you can follow your dreams even though it might seem
difficult at times. If you remain strong, you will
succeed. Sheila Williams is a gifted writer and we look
forward to more of her books. This book is highly
recommended.
