The
book is about Boone, a search and rescue dog. There are
several stories where Boone is called to help rescue victims.
A person was trapped in a collapsed building - Boone came to the
rescue and found the person very quickly. An eight-year-old
girl is missing and Boone is asked to help again. Sure enough,
Boone helps locate the girl. Another story involves a man who
did not show up for his grandson's birthday party. Boone is
called in to help and does find the man.
This is an excellent
book for young readers that will teach them the importance of the
search and rescue dog. Each story is interesting and will
capture the young reader's attention while at the same time they are
being taught a very important lesson about search and rescue
dogs. The book also gives some information as to how these
dogs are trained for search and rescue.
The
illustrator, Judith Friedman, has excellent drawings throughout the
book, which make you feel the warmth and love that everyone feels
for Boone.
This book is highly recommended for the
young reader. It will also teach a few of us "older" readers a
few things about the search and rescue dog. This book is
highly recommended.
