Michael drove all night and arrived home at 4:00 A.M.
He realized he didn't have time to sleep because he would soon have
to meet with his crew. Michael was anxious to meet the new man
hired to replace him for a period of time. Michael is a former
detective who called it quits after his fiancée was murdered and the
killer never caught. More recently, several serial
killings were taking place in a town not to far away. Another
detective, who is also Michael's friend, needed help with this case
and asked Michael to return.
The name of Michael's
replacement is Jess Stanson. Much to Michael's surprise, it
turns out the person is Jessica Stanson. No way did he want a
woman for this job. He really didn't think twice about letting
her know his feelings. However, Jessica didn't want to hear
talk of her being fired because she was a woman. She told
Michael he should not fire her until he has had a chance to see her
do the job. Reluctantly, Michael agreed.
Michael soon
came to realize that Jessica was good at the job. It took some
time for them to be friends. Michael couldn't really get close
to anyone since the death of his fiancée.
The case
soon becomes very personal for Michael. What does he discover
about Jessica? It doesn't take long for Michael to realize
that he is starting to feel more than friendship for Jessica.
Is Michael successful at solving this case?
Aris Whittier has
created a thrilling book. It is a combination of suspense and
romance. Jessica is an interesting, strong character.
She comes through as a woman who will take no nonsense from anyone,
especially a man. This book is an interesting read and will
keep your turning the pages. Aris Whittier has an intriguing
writing style and we look forward to more books by this
author.
