Dry Ice is all about Dr. Alan Gregory rather than all about Dr. Gregory's patients. This is the reader's opportunity to learn about Alan's past, present, his fears and secrets.

Alan and his wife are going through a rough patch in their marriage. Lauren's illness has always been a problem but she is determined to try and lead a normal life. She has quit sharing her problems with Alan though and that does not make for a close relationship.

Lauren is deeply involved in a grand jury case and can't share any details with Alan. Suddenly Alan finds himself on the fringes of the case and with knowledge of details he can't share with Lauren. Since Alan's good friend Sam Purdy, a Boulder detective, is working with Lauren Sam and Alan have a problem communication problem too.

Michael McClelland has escaped from Colorado State Mental Hospital. Michael is the murderer introduced in White's book Privileged Information. McClelland seems to be able to slip in and out of places with no one knowing about it until they find his calling card. Can he be doing all of these things on his own or does he have a partner? This is just one of the many questions that Alan is seeking answers to in Dry Ice.

Dry Ice is a great addition to the line of Dr. Alan Gregory novels.
