Imagine if every time a teenager in the United States died and was lain at a morgue or hospital, they were magically brought back to "life." That's what happens in this thrillingly creepy book. Phoebe and Adam are next-door neighbors, and Adam is finally realizing that his feelings towards Phoebe are developing into more than friendship. Phoebe, however, doesn't reciprocate this love, because right now, she's fascinated by the living impaired Thomas Williams.
Thomas is shaking up the society of the school when he decides he wants to join the football team at the high school. The coach and a few of the players there decide that they're going to do everything they can to make sure Thomas doesn't stay on the team for long. After a series of brutal attempts at getting Thomas seriously injured (without any real effect, I mean, come on, Thomas already died!), they finally result to murdering a dead kid.
Adam's former associates, the Pain Crew, have replaced Adam and they're the ones causing the copious amount of hurt to Thomas, the undead, Phoebe, and (indirectly) Adam. They really live up to their names by the time the end of the book comes along and make Phoebe finally realize who she really loves. Why does Pete keep seeing Julia? This book was very well-written, thrillingly suspenseful, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in romance, thrillers, and gothic, zombie books. It was an incredibly good read and a real page turner, full of twists and turns that will just amaze and fascinate you.
