TWO TRAINS RUNNING - ANDREW VACHSS

Locke City, once a run down mill town, has now become the center of vice tourism.  Royal Beaumont, who was wheelchair bound from an early age, controls the town.  He really took over the town using force.  Tourists now flock to Locke City looking for certain illegal vices like gambling, prostitution and a few others.

Since Locke City has become so popular, it also caught the eye of a couple of rival mob gangs who would also like a piece of the action.  On one hand we have the Italian Mafia and on the other, an Irish mob.  So what does Beaumont decide to do?  He brings in a weapon of his own - a hired killer named Walker Dett.

Who will win in the end?

Although this novel doesn't have the usual character, Burke, it is still an excellent historical thriller.  The book will capture the reader's attention from the very first page and keep you engrossed until the end.   Andrew Vachss is a skilled writer and you will see why when you read this book.  The plot is exciting and the characters are unforgettable.  What more could we ask for in a novel?  Be sure to add this one to your reading list.  It is highly recommended.
