BOOK REVIEW: OFF SEASON
BY ANNE RIVERS SIDDONS

We hope you enjoy this book review by Nancy Eaton.

Lilly had everything going for her. She and her husband, Cam, had a great marriage and a wonderful family. Then one day this all came to a sudden stop when Cam died. Lilly started to feel like her life ended also.

Lilly and Cam spent quite a bit of time at their favorite place on the coast of Maine. She decided to take a trip to Maine where Lilly had many memories, including those of her childhood. This trip was something Lilly felt she had to do in order to be able to go on with her future. She took her cat and her husband’s urn. She was now off to do her grieving the way she wanted to do it.

The story goes back between the present and Lilly’s childhood. Once back in Maine, many memories rushed through Lilly’s mind. One of the main memories was of her first love – a love that ended in a terrible way. Next came the memories of how she met Cam and how happy they were throughout their marriage.

Lilly discovers something on this trip. She learns something about Cam that will make her do some very serious thinking about her husband and their marriage. What does she discover?

This story is beautifully written. The author is a master storyteller and her character development is extraordinary. What is really impressive is the way she describes everything especially the beauty of the coast of Maine. The reader will be enthralled by the descriptions and will be able to visualize and almost smell everything Lilly is talking about. This is the first book I have read by Anne Rivers Siddons and it surely will not be my last. Be sure to add Off Season to your reading list. I highly recommend this book.
