Right The Wrongs is the sequel to Misdemeanor Man. Gordon Seegerman
is an attorney in the public defender's office in Santa Rita,
California. Gordy lives at home and helps to care for his father, a
former police officer, who is suffering from Early Onset Familial
Alzheimer's disease. Gordy's brother has been tested and it has been
found that he will not succumb to this disease but Gordy has yet to
take the test so is in constant turmoil as to whether he may or may
not fall victim to his father's disease. Gordy's brother and his
grandfather help him with the care of his father.
Gordy's
hero is Barry Manilow and his top priority is his Manilow band that
is in the midst of preparation for a trip to Vegas. Maueve
O'Connell, lesbian member of the Manilow band has somehow come up
pregnant and is on bed rest and Gordy is trying his best to get his
ex-girlfriend Silvie to fill in for Maueve.
In the midst of
all this turmoil a case gets dumped in Gordy's lap. This starts out
as a very uncomplicated case where a boy is accused of stealing a
dog that is a mascot for another school but nothing is as it seems
and the case turns out to be several charges including
murder.
And when it is all said and done - it still is not as
it seems. The book started out slow for me but I was glad I stuck
with it and did enjoy it and would look forward to another Gordy
book.
