Although Don't Tell a Soul is a departure from Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter series, fans of Rosenfelt will not be disappointed. The same excellent plot twists and suspense is present in this book as well.

Tim Wallace's wife was killed in an apparent boating accident. However, police were not convinced it was an accident at all and dogged Tim for weeks. Finally, after he passed a lie detector test they left him alone. Besides dealing with the police, Tim was having a tough time getting over the loss of his wife and had pretty much put his life, aside from work on hold. But New Year's Eve, some of his longtime buddies convinced him to go out for a few drinks with them. While standing at the bar, a man walked over to Tim and started talking. At first Tim tried to ignore him, but finally listened thinking then the guy would leave him alone. Wanting to clear his conscience before the New Year, the man told Tim that he had a secret he wanted to get off his chest-three months ago he killed a woman. “Now it's your problem.” At first Tim thinks the guy is just joking around, but the next day he decides to try to verify some of the details. He also went to the police. Since the officers who investigated his wife's death were never convinced it was an accident, they are eager to find something to hang on him. As the coincidences keep mounting up, Tim soon realizes that someone is out to ruin him-but who? And Why?

Rosenfelt does a terrific job of building suspense throughout the book. As with any well crafted thriller, the reader sees the plot unfolding from several perspectives and is caught up in the race to the finish. Will Tim figure out who is behind his trouble before his life is ruined? Will he figure out why in time to stop the events that have been set in motion? The suspense will keep readers awake late into the night in order to finish this book!
