BOOK REVIEW: A HOLE IN JUAN
Amanda Pepper is a schoolteacher and also a newlywed. One early morning her phone rang. The call was from Carol Parillo, a Philly Prep math teacher who did not sound like herself. Carol informed Amanda that she was sick and wanted Amanda to be prepared to take her place at the school party on Friday just in case she could not make it. Amanda was not thrilled with the idea of spending more time with the students but after hearing Carol's voice and how terrible she sounded Amanda could not refuse.
Juan Angel Reyes, a new science teacher, is nicknamed "Dr. Jar" by the students. They made fun of his obsession with monogramming his clothing. He asked Amanda if she noticed the students were misbehaving more then the norm. Amanda told him that she heard of several pranks lately; however Juan Reyes considered what was going on to be far more then pranks.
In Philadelphia it is a tradition to play pranks on the night before Halloween. Strange things begin to happen to Juan Reyes as well as to Amanda and it was taking place sooner than the night before Halloween. What was going on?
Juan Reyes is seriously injured in what the police believe is an accident - but is it an accident?
Amanda does not believe it was an accident and knows she has to use her sleuthing skills to find out what is going on before it is too late!
Gillian Roberts has written an exciting mystery that will keep you reading late into the night. Amanda Pepper is such a cool character with great determination to get to the bottom of things. The Amanda Pepper series is always a fun read and at the same time one that will keep you guessing throughout the book. Be sure to add this one to your reading list. It is highly recommended.
