What child doesn't like games like running, jumping and throwing? The answer is just about all of them.

Jack Prelutsky has written this book to help celebrate all kinds of sports by using rhymes to sing out the praise for winter games, summer games and all year round games.

Just to name a few of the subjects included in this book are baseball, a goalkeeper, a gymnast, football, frisbee, skating, running, batting, basketball and many, many more.

One of the main purposes of the book is to "capture the range of emotions children face on the field, in the pool or on the playground". As you read through the poems, this author does exactly that - a wonderful job of making the reader feel the emotions a child goes through during these activities. Any child who gets involved in any type of sports or activities will love this book. The watercolor illustrations done by Chris Raschka are a plus to helping the reader feel the emotions expressed in the book. The illustrations are very colorful and really come through with emotion whether it is to make one laugh or feel very serious such as the one poem that states "baseball is fun, but it gives me the blues to score ninety-four and still manage to lose". The illustration for this one is just wonderful. The others are also excellent. This book is recommended for ages 8 and up. I, as an adult, also found it a very delightful read!
