Jackie Laurens had just about everything she could want. Some would call it a perfect life. She had a very handsome husband and was married for twelve years. Along with that she had two great kids and a very nice house. Things were just wonderful - that is until she found out that her husband was having an affair.

The most difficult time for Jackie was during the holidays - especially Christmas when everyone else seemed so happy and having a good time. Jackie tried to make the best of it for the sake of her children. You will find yourself laughing out loud as they shopped and then tried to stand up the Christmas tree!

Jackie's friends, who were all happily married, decided what Jackie needed to do was to get away from it all. To make matters worse, Jackie would soon be turning the big 40. Anne made plans for a trip to Hawaii. Jackie did not want to go alone so Anne agreed to go along. However, Anne was not able to make the trip at the last minute and Jackie ended up going alone after all.

Jackie soon discovers a whole new world in Hawaii. Jackie meets Kai, a much younger and very handsome surf instructor. The two have a very passionate time.

Once Jackie returns home, she and Kai continue to have a long distance relationship. Her friends don't approve.

What happens to the relationship between Jackie and Kai? Is Jackie willing to risk everything for Kai?

This book will bring out every emotion in you. Most of all, it will make you laugh and we all need that every now and then. Although this book is hilarious at times, it also has some serious points that will make some women ponder as they read through the story. Jane Porter does an excellent job of showing the reader how the relationship with Kai really changed Jackie's attitude about herself and how she regained confidence and felt like a real woman once again. The author also shows us how friendships can affect our lives in many directions. This is an excellent summer read and you will find it very entertaining.
