It was a hot, sticky day - one that Alice Halpern will not forget.  Each day, Alice waited in the park across the street from the school.  It wouldn't be long before the children headed out the door to meet parents waiting for them.  Alice also met her best friend, Lauren, at the park each day. 

This day, however, was different.  As Alice waited, she tried to remember if Lauren mentioned anything yesterday about going on an errand this morning or something to explain why she was late.  Lauren was pregnant and very close to her delivery date.   It was getting later and there still was no sign of Lauren.  The only explanation Alice could come up with is that Lauren must be in the hospital delivering her baby. 

A check of the hospitals revealed that Lauren was not admitted.  In addition, Lauren's husband did not hear from her.

What happened to Lauren? 

Alice, who is also pregnant with twins, realizes she is being followed.  Who could this possibly be?  What do they want with Alice?

Kate Pepper has written a novel full of suspense.  You will be kept on the edge of your seat right from page one.  The reader will be kept guessing as to what happened to Lauren.  The book has a great plot, which is nicely integrated with each character.  Be sure to add this one to your reading list.  It is highly recommended.
