BOOK REVIEW: ONE COLD NIGHT
David Strauss is a New York Police Detective. His wife's younger sister, Lisa, lives with them in order that she is able to attend school in New York. Lisa was told that she was adopted.
One night, Lisa makes a startling decision and tells Susan she wants to find her biological parents. Susan is torn because she knows Lisa must now be told the truth. Susan is really Lisa's mother. She gave birth to Lisa when she was 15 and it was decided that it would be best this way. To make matters worse, Dave did not know the real truth either.
Lisa was very upset when Susan told her the truth. She stormed out of the house.
It was now 11:00 P.M. and Lisa did not return home. She called David and he told her to wait until midnight due to the fact that Lisa sometimes stayed out past her curfew. Midnight came and Lisa was nowhere to be seen. Susan now had to tell David the truth.
David is haunted by a case that happened several years ago and was never solved. It involved the disappearance of a young girl. All the detectives could find were tracings of blood and some untraced phone calls. Now something similar is happening in his family.
Where is Lisa? Susan and David know she didn't just run away. Their suspicions were right when they receive the first phone call and know Lisa is not alone. Are the two cases related? Are they able to save Lisa?
We know that when Kate Pepper writes a book it is going to be a thriller and she does not disappoint the reader with this one. This is an engrossing read that has many twists and turns. This book is highly recommended.
