Hallie
Palmer is now in college. She heard someone crack open her
bedroom door. It turned out to be Bernard Stockton, the person
who helped save her when she was having so many problems when she
was younger.
It seems Bernard is very upset because
his longtime boyfriend, Gil, left him. Bernard explained to
Hallie that ever since Bernard's older brother died, he has become
more distant and all of a sudden their relationship was over.
This all couldn't have happened at a worst time for
Hallie. She had her exams coming up and knew she had to do
well on them because her grades have not been all that good.
She also needed to stop at Career Services and figure out how to
make some money this summer.
Upon Hallie's return back
to her apartment Bernard was still there. He asked Hallie what
was happening with her summer internship. Hallie stated she
had the internship but it didn't pay anything. Bernard was
very happy to hear this. Bernard wanted her to come back home
and continue with the job she was doing - yard work. Hallie
had the feeling Bernard had something more in mind.
Bernard finally admitted to Hallie that he needed her help
in getting Gil back. His mother was no help in this
situation. Hallie, on the other hand, was very clever.
Is Hallie successful at getting Bernard and Gil back
together?
This novel is an excellent sequel to Beginner's
Luck. Laura Pedersen has done a clever job at creating these
very "different" characters. If you have read Beginner's Luck
and found these characters unique, you will be happy to see this
group continue with their shenanigans. This book will make you
laugh many times. It is unforgettable and one you will
thoroughly enjoy.
