Spenser's sidekick Hawk is recovering from a very serious
injury after he was shot and left for dead while protecting bookie
Luther Gillespie. Hawk is out for revenge and Spenser is with him
every step of the way.
Hawk is also determined that he will
see that a trust fund is set up for Luther's son and he will be sure
the funds come from the mob that hit Luther.
Spenser and Hawk
find that the Ukrainian mob has almost total control of the town of
Marshport and they set out to find the people responsible for Hawk's
injuries and Luther's death.
Meanwhile, Susan tries to be
supportive but Hawk's Cecile is having problems coming to terms with
Hawk's recovery and desire for revenge.
The book was a fast
read but one I could have easily skipped over. I didn't find it to
be on the level of other Spenser and Hawk novels.
