   CONVERSATIONS WITH THE FAT GIRL
                         LIZA PALMER

Maggie and Olivia have been friends since they were twelve.  They have something in common - being fat!  They went through some very tough times together while at school - for instance when selections were made for a team sport, they were the last two chosen.

As they grew up some things changed.  Maggie was still very overweight; however Olivia decided to have gastic bypass surgery.  Within a few years, Olivia is engaged to a surgeon who does not like overweight people.  Maggie is now the fat bridesmaid.  Olivia is no help because she doesn't tell her boyfriend to "knock it off" and quit making remarks about Maggie's weight.  After all, Maggie has to keep Olivia's secret that she was once a fat girl too!

Well, Maggie blows her cork and things begin to fall into place for her.  What does Maggie do to help herself?

You will want to cheer for Maggie from the very first page.  The book is filled with humor but at the same time you can just feel the hurt that Maggie is going through because of her weight problem.  The author does an excellent job of bringing Maggie's plight to the reader.  You can just feel her insecurities and the strength she gathers to battle the problem head-on.  This is Liza Palmer's first book.  She did such a great job with this one, we can't wait to read the next one!
