BOOK REVIEW: THE BODY IN THE SNOWDRIFT
Just imagine being out on the ski trail and you start to feel like you are having a heart attack. The first thing you would do is reach for your nitroglycerin pills. Right? Well, that is what the skier did but it turned out that his pill jar contained mints instead of nitroglycerin pills! Who switched the pills and what were they trying to do?
Caterer Faith Fairchild's father-in-law wanted to spend his 70th birthday with a family reunion on a ski trip at the Pine Slopes Resort in Vermont. Faith really wasn't too keen on this idea but decided to go along with it anyway.
Faith began to find some very interesting things while on the trip. The first thing she came across was a corpse while on the ski trail which happened to be the man who had the mints in his pill jar. Several other things began to happen. The chef disappeared. Since Faith is a caterer she offered to step in and help until a replacement was found. There was also a break-in at the Fairchild condo and the sabotage of a chairlift. What finally turned out to be the worst thing that happened is there was a fatal accident with the snow making machines.
Faith realized that she was going to have to work hard and fast to find out what was going on because her life would be in danger as well.
The Faith Fairchild mysteries are always a great and entertaining read. One of the nicest things about them is that some really delicious recipes are included along with the mystery itself. The author, Katherine Hall Page, always does a wonderful job of adding a touch of suspense to the story and at the same time making the story a fun read for everyone. Katherine Hall Page has found the right recipe in her Faith Fairchild mysteries. She has mixed together some unforgettable characters, manages to add some humor to the story and she is known as being a great puzzle writer. This is a series that you will enjoy and this book is one you should add to your reading list.
