This
is the story of two women who loved the same man. After her
husband, Ben, dies in an accident, Gina Melrose decides to live on
his boat that is docked at a marina in South Carolina. Also
with her on the boat is Georgie, a miniature schnauzer, who was
given to her because the owner was old and had to give the dog
up. Georgie had now become Gina's alarm system and closest
companion.
All of a sudden Gina heard footsteps.
Georgie's ears perked up. Gina reached for her pistol.
Gina doesn't recall pointing the gun but the sound of the explosive
pop played over and over in her head. Everything seemed to
happen all at once and Gina realized it was Reese, her husband's
ex-wife. Gina then realized she had shot Reese's little girl,
Angel.
While Angel recuperates, she and Reese move in
with Gina. Even though Gina and Reese do not get off to a very
good start, they start to develop a bond with each other. Gina
decided she did not want any children due to the painful loss of her
sister during childhood. However, her life starts to change
with her relationship with Angel. Could this little girl be
Ben's daughter?
How do Angel and Reese change Gina's
life?
This is a compelling book that contains several
secrets. The author, Jean Reynolds Page, has done an excellent job
with characterization. This book has all the ingredients that make
it an interesting read - an intriguing plot, strong characters and a
storyline that is very moving!
