Veronica Swan was babysitting for her sisters, Ruthie and Becky while her father was hunting and the mother ran an errand. They were playing a game of hide-and-go seek. Ronnie was hiding from her sisters. When Ronnie came out of her hiding place, she discovered her two sisters had their throats slashed. The person who did this horrible thing is Scott Early, a schizophrenic, who was still there with blood splattered on his tee shirt. Veronica called 911.

Veronica's parents, who are Mormons, had a hard time with this tragedy but knew they must forgive the killer in order for the sake of their own health. Veronica, on the other hand, could not find it within herself to forgive Scott. Veronica was a strong person (on the outside) and helped to hold the family together.

Veronica decided to move to California in order to train as an EMT and eventually pay for her college education. Veronica also had some other plans she did not tell anyone about. She changed her identity and decided to track down Scott Early.

What does Veronica decide to do once she finds Scott Early?

This book is a compelling read. The suspense builds as you can feel Veronica getting closer and closer to Scott Early. Be prepared to shed a few tears when you read about the murders of the sisters and how the family had to deal with the grief. You will not be disappointed with this one. This book is highly recommended.
