Paddy
Meehan worked for the Scottish Daily News. However, she was
not happy with her position there. She was really just a
gopher. She wanted to be a journalist. Her family
would like for her to get married to Sean and raise a family.
The body of three-year-old Brian Wilcox is found. He
was tortured and beaten to death. Two young boys were
responsible for the killing of Brian.
Paddy soon
discovers something that could change her life. One of the
boys implicated in the killing of Brian is Sean's cousin. Now,
all of a sudden, Paddy's job prospects seem much better. This
could be her one big chance to be a journalist. However, did
she really want to get involved at such a high cost to her
family?
Paddy begins an investigation along with the help of
a reporter. What does she discover?
This is the first
book of a new series. Denise Mina has created a great
character in Paddy Meehan. She is someone who wants to be her
own person - to do what she wants to do - not what everyone else
wants her to do. This book is a captivating read and we look
forward to more from Denise Mina. This book is highly
recommended.
