BOOK REVIEW: DEAD BEFORE DYING |
|
Things are not going too well for Captain Mat Joubert since the death of his police officer wife, Lara, almost two years ago. His career has been headed downward and things don't look too promising.
Mat now has a chance to try and save his career. Three murders have occurred in Capetown, South Africa. The three victims appear to have nothing in common. Did the killer just pick random people to kill? The strange thing is the weapon the killer chose to use on the victims. The killings were done with an old German handgun that uses ancient bullets. Mat heads the investigation to find the killer.
Everything turns into chaos. The residents are starting to panic with a killer on the loose. The media isn't helping matters because they are flaring things up. Then there are the politicians who want something done one way or the other.
Is Captain Joubert able to solve this case?
This novel is loaded with suspense and the reader will find a surprise at the end. The author does an excellent job of showing the reader how politics in a police department can come into play with a case that is starting to panic the citizens. I feel this is the best book yet by Deon Meyer. After reading this book, you will want to go back and read the others by this author. Be sure to add this one to your reading list. You will not be sorry!
