Llewelyn Moss, a Vietnam veteran, was hunting antelope one
day along the Texas border. He came across something and it
surely wasn't antelope. Moss discovered a murder scene.
Apparently, a drug deal had gone very wrong and Moss found several
murder victims along with a bag of heroin. His big find was a
satchel containing over two million dollars.
Moss
decided to take the money and run. He knew that once he did
this someone was going to come looking for the money and the person
who took it. In order to protect his wife, Moss sent her home
to stay with her mother. Moss was a sniper in Vietnam and
figured he could take care of himself.
After a couple
of more murders, a burning car of one of the victims leads
Sheriff Bell to the desert where he discovers the murder scene. He
realizes someone had been there before him since no cash was
found.
Moss soon has several people trying to
hunt him down including the gang involved in the drug deal.
Sheriff Bell is almost helpless as the situation
explodes.
What happens to Llewelyn Moss? Is he hunted
down? Is Sheriff Bell able to help him?
Cormac McCarthy
has written a novel loaded with fast paced action. The reader
feels like they are right in the middle of the story as they are
taken through the wild hunt for Moss. It doesn't take long for
the reader to get engrossed in the story. The action starts
right from the beginning and continues throughout the book.
This book is highly recommended.
