BOOK REVIEW: NOTORIOUS |
Melanie is the only witness to a high profile murder case but will she live long enough to see justice done?
Melanie Vargas is prosecuting famous rapper Atari Briggs for a past crime. Atari’s lawyer, Lester Poe, urges Melanie to postpone the trial. Why? Poe is convinced he can get his client to plead guilty to a lesser charge and as a result he might “spill the beans” on some well known criminals. Poe informs Melanie that his client might have ties with a wanted fugitive, Gamal Abdullah, who is involved in bringing Afghan heroin into the United States.
This could be the case of a lifetime for Melanie so she agrees to check out the information Lester provided. Just as Lester was heading back to his car, Melanie noticed a man walking a dog. Melanie grew suspicious as the man continued to watch Lester. The man pointed a cell phone toward Lester’s car just as he opened the door. Melanie yelled Lester’s name but it was too late. There was a loud explosion.
Lester was dead. The dog's body was also found later on. Lester was more than a colleague to Melanie. She was attracted to him. As time goes on, she soon finds out that she did not know too much about Lester including the fact that he was married.
Will Melanie survive long enough to see Lester’s death brought to justice?
Norotious had me hooked from the very first page. This novel starts off with an explosion and doesn’t let up in thrills throughout the book. Melanie is a strong character who will take the reader on a thrilling journey from the street where the explosion occurred right to the courtroom. This novel includes some excellent supporting characters including Susan, a prosecutor, and a very unique judge. The storyline for the novel might seem a little similar to some of the books you have read in the past; however, Michele Martinez does an excellent job of presenting this thriller in a new light. Be sure to add Notorious to your reading list. I high recommend this novel.
