Melanie Vargas did not have an easy life. She worked as
a prosecutor and at the same time had the responsibility of raising
her six-month old daughter, Maya. One evening Melanie heard
sirens - not one but many different kinds like ambulances, police
cruisers and fire trucks. She knew something serious had
happened.
Melanie was having trouble trying to get Maya to go
to sleep. She decided to get the stroller and take Maya for a
walk. Once Melanie discovered what was happening and
which house was involved, she knew she could not leave. It was
Jed Benson's house. He was a famous prosecutor in her office
at one time then left to make a fortune in private practice.
Melanie heard a woman shouting, "Let me help". She
discovered it was her college roommate and friend, Sophie Cho.
Melanie knew she had to get in on this case. It was the type
of case that could help her career. She managed to do just
that by avoiding certain questions she was being asked by the
police. Melanie was told that Jed Benson was murdered.
She told Lt. Ramirez she was ready to work the case. Sophie
volunteered to take care of Maya.
What does Melanie discover
during her investigation? Is she able to help capture the
killer of Jed Benson? Melanie soon learns she is getting more
than she bargained for in dealing with this killer!
This book
is a captivating read! I found it difficult to put the book
down once I started reading it. The story is full of suspense
and Michele Martinez does an excellent job of pulling the action
together to make this an excellent mystery. If you are a fan
of the suspense novel, add this one to your list. You are in
for a treat! We look forward to more books by Michele
Martinez.
