BOOK REVIEW: LIFE SENTENCES
BY LAURA LIPPMAN

We hope you enjoy this book review by Jennifer Higgins.

Upon first glance this book appears to be about whether or not a young woman by the name of Calliope Jenkins murdered her infant son.

The story begins with Cassandra, an author at a book signing, who wrote two successful memoirs, then a fairly unsuccessful book of fiction. While away on tour she comes across the name of a former classmate, Calliope Jenkins.

Cassandra begins to recall Calliope and realizes he does not recall much other than she was a quiet girl. How did this quiet girl end up imprisoned for seven years, refusing to ever speak about the alleged crime and what became of her baby?

Cassandra becomes determined to write a 4th novel, this one to be based on Calliope, but first Cassandra must find Calliope and those who knew her to discover the truth.

The story, while revolving around Calliope Jenkins, goes much further, begging the reader to question what is truth?

Life Sentences will keep the reader's attention all the way to the end and have the reader pondering what is the truth.
