BOOK REVIEW: HOLLYWOOD BUZZ
BY MARGIT LIESCHE

We hope you enjoy this book review by Patricia Reid.

WASPs (Women Airforce Service Pilots) were a group of women that took to the air during World War II. The public had mixed emotions about this group of women who were willing to risk everything to help their country. Pucci Lewis is one of these women. Pucci is a good pilot and trained in undercover work.

Her latest assignment is Hollywood. Jackie Cochran, Pucciís boss and head of the WASP, is sending Pucci to replace Frankie Beall, an ace pilot and Pucciís friend. Frankie is in critical condition after a plane crash. Pucci is dispatched to the First Motion Picture Unit where a documentary on the WASPs is being filmed.

Pucci is given a Packard to drive and is a guest at a Beverly Hills mansion. The owners of the mansion spend a lot of time traveling to exotic places and Pucci begins to believe they are working undercover. Bela Lugosi, star of horror films, is a constant visitor since his niece is the housekeeper.

Frankie Beallís plane crash is suspicious and Pucci is anxious to discover who was behind the plane crash. The suspicious crash is only one of the many things Pucci is faced with on this assignment. There is an undercurrent of suspicious activities and Pucci even feels that Nazi operatives may be on the scene.

The conditions during Wartime Hollywood make for interesting reading. Pucci bravely forges ahead in a world of glamour and danger. Hollywood Buzz makes for exciting reading.
