The Deep Blue Alibi finds Steve Solomon and Victoria Lord still practicing law as Solomon & Lord. Bobby, Steve's nephew, is still living with him and spending a lot of time with his grandfather now retired. Steve has filed a case without his father's permission in hopes of clearing his father's name. Steve's father was a respected Judge when a scandal caused him to leave the bench and Steve is convinced his case will clear up the matter. Steve's father is very much opposed to Steve continuing the case.

Victoria is becoming restless and feels that she is receiving the short end of the stick in the Solomon & Lord partnership. She finally gets up the nerve to tell Steve she wants to go out on her own. Just as she is trying to discuss this with Steve a boat crashes into the dock and it is carrying a murder victim and an old friend of Victoria's family who is soon to be accused of the murder.

This old friend has a son who Steve soon believes is trying to steal Victoria's away from him. Steve battles his father case and Victoria goes forth to defend her father's friend but all doesn't go smooth. Steve misses being with Victoria and Victoria questions her own judgment in going out on her own. She admits to herself that Steve has certain abilities when it comes to trying a case that she really misses when she is on her own.

I very much enjoy Paul Levine's novels and hope for a follow-up of The Deep Blue Alibi soon. The books are fast-paced and humorous and a joy to read.
