BOOK REVIEW: |
People think twice about walking the mean streets of Dorchester Massachusetts. The people that live there are poor and without an ounce of hope for the future. When one of the children goes missing, PIs, Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro are called by the child's aunt to investigate. Kenzie and Gennaro have to pay their bills so they accept this case with trepidation. They put everything on the line and are rewarded by being pushed to the edge of their sanity as well as their future lives. This intriguing scenario teases the reader to open writer, Dennis Lehane's Gone Baby Gone.
Dennis Lehane was born and raised in Dorchester Massachuseets. Lehane has worked as a counselor with mentally challenged children, has been a waiter, parked cars and limos, and loaded tractor-trailers and worked in a bookstore.
Lehane's working class background strenthens the common sense approach/touch of his books. Lehane has been a finalist for the important Pen/Winship Award. He has won the Anthony Award and Barry Award for Best Novel. The Massachusetts Center for the Book has honored Lehane with their Massachusetts Award in Fiction.
Thousands of readers have made Lehane's books bestsellers because they are very fine examples of the American mystery/thriller genre.
