BOOK REVIEW: RUSTY NAIL |
|
Usually I do not like humor mixed with my mystery stories but J. A. Konrath mixes lots of hilarity so you can stay involved deeply in the book and find yourself laughing at actions and words.
Lt. Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels works with the Chicago Police Department. She is familiar with the Kork family-too familiar! They torture, kill slowly, strip ones skin off, cut certain parts of the body off, all while enjoying each and every cry, scream, and shout. Sound disgusting? The Kork family is very disgusting, to say the least! Jack 's partner is not much of help in tracking the Kork's down but he thinks he is. The Kork's keep sending Jack tapes of the mutilation of their victims while still alive until the end of their lives.
Jack is the one now that the Kork's are going to catch and "take care of!" Jack gets trapped in a fire with virtually no way out, a fire started by whom else, the Kork's! Jack does get hurt but you cannot keep a good lady cop down. The search continues as Jack and her fellow law enforcement members' track from Illinois to Indiana. The Kork's are always one step ahead, torturing while they go. But Jack is determined and the chase and search continues.
Rusty Nail is a terrific read. As I said, the humor is great. You meet many kinds of characters in the book. J.A. Konrath is a great writer. I hope he has more books coming. I will not give you any more about the book. You will have to read it and enjoy it from cover to cover, as I did.
