Bloody
Mary brings back Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels, a Chicago Police
Lieutenant and she is even better in Bloody Mary and that is saying
a lot because I loved her in Whiskey Sour.
This is a
terrifying tale of a truly evil, cunning man. It is hard to imagine
a human being that could be that cold and cruel. He is worse than
most cold-blooded killers. And it is Jack's job to bring him to
justice but the road to justice is not easy and many people are hurt
along the way. The killer is out to get Jack and all of her friends
and family but doesn't mind killing a number of people on his way to
that goal.
You will love Jack's partner Detective First Class
Herb Benedict but you may also want to trangle him a few times
throughout the book.
Jack's love life and family life is in
even more turmoil than usual. Harry McGlade, Jack's old partner,
turns up as well. Even though Jack refers to Harry most of the time
as Idiot he can be resourceful if he is looking for a
favor.
You will meet Latham, Jack's current lover, Alan,
Jack's ex-husband, Mary, Jack's mother and Mr. Griffin, Mary's
friend. Their interactions add some humor to the book. You will also
meet and probably not forget soon Mr. Friskers whose bad temper is
unequaled most of the time.
This is a wonderful book and I
truly enjoyed it. I can't wait for the next Jack Daniels
novel.
