They say that just about everyone has a skeleton in the closet. That appears to be very true in this case.

P.I. Ed Loy lived in Los Angeles for many years. He returned to Ireland for his mother's funeral and remained there.

Dr. Shane Howard received a blackmail threat with some photographs of his medical student daughter, Emily, in some compromising positions. Dr. Howard enlists the help of Loy to find his missing daughter and the blackmailer.

The same day Loy meets Howard, Emily's mother and ex-boyfriend are stabbed to death. As Loy continues his investigation, he discovers many family secrets that no one should really know. It appears the Howard family name, known for progress and improvement in Dublin's medical community, is just a mask for something that is not what it appears to be. Dr. Howard ends up being the main suspect but his sister insists her brother is innocent. She asks Loy to help.

What does Ed Loy discover along the way of his investigation? Is he able to find out the truth?

This is the second Ed Loy novel. Readers will love this character because he seems so real. Declan Hughes is a wonderful storyteller and he knows how to grab the reader's attention and keep them there. The author does an excellent job with his descriptive writing about Ireland and will make the reader feel like they are right there. This is an engrossing Irish mystery that you don't want to miss reading. I highly recommend this book.
