Doggone has something to suit everyone. There is mystery, romance and lots of humor.

Sara Townley is happy to travel from Seattle to San Diego to check into a possible case of identity theft. A bank has hired Saraís company since they feel that the philanthropist Charles Smithsí identity may have been compromised. A large amount of money has been transferred from Smiths account.

Saraís new husband Connor McNamara, a Navy Seal, lives in San Diego as well as his family and Sara is looking forward to meeting the family but not quite in the way it happened. Sara didnít expect to meet them quite as soon as she did and she most certainly did not intend to meet them partially undressed.

Henry DeFries interviewed Charles Smiths on a radio show and Sara has an appointment to meet with DeFries. On arriving at the location for the meeting Sara finds herself in the middle of a shoot out. Connor had insisted on accompanying Sara and managed to drag her to safety but DeFries had been killed. Before the shooting began Sara met the friendly Labrador retriever who was to pop in and out of her life throughout the investigation.

Charles Smiths parents had been murdered when he was a child and he was present when it happened. Although very wealthy he just did not make public appearances. Now Sara needs to figure out if the Charles Smiths that gave the interview was the real Charles Smiths or an imposter. Connor is not always available to help Sara with her detecting. Even though she feels she needs no help she finds that there is always some buddy of Connorís watching her back. Most of the time this is a good thing.

Some of the scenes with Connorís family and in particular with his sister are hilarious. Sara finally gets to the bottom of the mystery but needs some help from her Labrador friend to finally solve the puzzle.
