BOOK REVIEW: DEATH WALKED IN |
Who committed the murder of Gwen Jamison? Carolyn Hart introduces the reader to many characters at the beginning of this book and it will be up to the reader to figure out this crime. It won’t be easy because it could have been any one of them!
Max will not forget the time he tried to help a woman and ended up being the suspect and placed in jail. He would not make that same mistake again. So this time when a woman calls to ask for his help, he does not wish to speak with her. The caller does leave word that she has left “something” in the house that Max and his wife are restoring. Once Annie has discovered what is going on, she goes to the woman’s house only to find her shot. She was not dead yet and managed to try and say something but it was not anything Annie could understand. The woman died.
It is soon discovered that the dead woman is connected to a home where several gold coins have gone missing. Things really get interesting when it is discovered that the coins are rare Double Eagles and stolen from a house where there were many family members visiting. All could use the money. Did one of them kill for the fortune?
Then on the other hand, is the dead woman’s son the guilty one?
Before the woman died, she called and said she left something in the old house. Was she referring to the coins? Max discovers an intruder in the house who also takes a shot a him.
Are Max and Annie successful at solving this case?
Max and Annie make such a great couple. These two are not only good at working together to solve a crime but still have that “spark of passion” in their marriage and they are not afraid to express it. Women will just love Max because he can really cook. You will just envy Annie when she gets up the morning and Max has a delicious meal waiting for her. The author does an excellent job with these two because each time their characters seem to be new and refreshing and they never get "old" to the reader. This is due to the superb writing of the author.
Carolyn Hart always does an excellent job of keeping the reader guessing. This is one of Carolyn Hart’s best novels and you will find it hard to put down. Be sure to add Death Walked in to your reading list.
