BOOK REVIEW: DEATH OF THE PARTY
Britt Barlow is the owner of Heron House, a beautiful mansion on an island called Golden Silk. Jeremiah Addison Britt's brother-in-law originally owned the island. After Jeremiah's death Britt's sister Cissy inherited the island and when Cissy soon died with cancer Britt inherited from her sister.
Britt had turned the island into a bed and breakfast of a unique style. Visitors were brought to the island and they stayed for an entire week. No phones, no cars, no interference from the outside world. Britt was the owner of the beautiful home and island. She also had a new love in her life and the world looked promising.
Then she received a letter which she could only assume was the beginning of a blackmail scheme because Jeremiah did not die an accidental death as all believed.
Britt conceived a desperate plan. She invited everyone to her island that had been on the island at the time of Jeremiah's death. Then she hired Max Darling to come to the island and help her figure out the answer to the question of who murdered Jeremiah. Max was hesitant to take the job but when Britt insisted that this was the only way to get to the truth and when she refused to go directly to the authorities Max relented.
Annie, Max's wife, and the owner of Death on Demand, a local bookstore, insisted that she would go along with Max. Much to the dismay of the Darlings they soon discovered that Britt was not completely honest with them. The guests from varied walks of life who were suspects all had reason to want to see Jeremiah out of the way.
Grab a copy of Death of the Party and come along on a weekend at Golden Silk. You are in for many surprises and much suspense before the true identity of the murderer is revealed.
