BOOK REVIEW: LAST CALL
BY JAMES GRIPPANDO

We hope you enjoy this book review by Patricia Reid.

Theo Knight is a successful bar owner. Theo has come a long way from the ghetto and the gangs and he has done this by way of death row. Theo’s best friend is Jack Swyteck. Jack’s a lawyer and Theo owes his life to him. Jack proved Theo innocent of a murder he didn’t commit.

In Last Call, Theo’s life is taking a downhill tumble into the past and a place where Jack may not be able to pull him out. When Isaac Reems shows up in the back room of Theo’s bar, Theo is blasted back to the year when he was 13 years old and the scene of his initiation into the Grove Lords, a gang that roamed the streets of Miami. It was that same night that Theo saw the body of his mother lying in the street, a drug addict and a prostitute with her throat cut. Now Isaac is demanding Theo’s help. Isaac is on the run from the police after managing to escape from prison. Isaac’s source on the outside has abandoned him. Isaac threatens Theo and promises that if Theo aids him he will reveal who really killed Theo’s mother.

Theo’s girl friend Trina and his Uncle Cyrus are fearful that Theo will not survive this journey into the past. Jack and FBI agent Andie Henning devise a plot to put Theo inside the prison that Isaac escaped from to find Isaac’s inside source. Theo is no safer on the inside than he is on the outside. Someone wants Theo dead and is pulling out all stops to accomplish that task.

The story of Theo and his complicated journey into the past is an exciting story. Last Call is the seventh book in the James Swyteck and Theo Knight series but it is not necessary to have read any of this series to enjoy Last Call.
