BOOK REVIEW: GOT THE LOOK
Got the Look grabbed me right from the start. It revolves around Jack Swyteck, an attorney and FBI agent Andie Henning and Jack's recent girlfriend, Mia. All is going well in Jack's world until everything goes to pieces in a matter of days. He has recently been dating Mia and believes himself to be in love and has made a good contact in a large law firm that is throwing business his way.
Just when Jack seems happiest, Jack finds out Mia is married and then she quickly becomes the next victim of a serial kidnapper. This is when he meets up with FBI agent Andie Henning. Andie has only recently relocated to Miami from Seattle and is having to tread carefully in new territory with her new co-workers. She also has her own secret reasons for leaving Seattle that haunt her.
Andie is the lead investigator in the Wrong Number Serial Kidnapper investigation. Just before Mia is kidnapped her husband returns from a business trip and finds out about her affair with Jack and therefore refuses to pay her ransom. Things start to become very scary then as the kidnapper turns to Mia's recent lover Jack to cough up the ransom. The kidnapper has already proven that he will not hesitate to kill his hostage if his demands are not met.
James Grippando put together a very interesting cast of characters including Jack, Andie, Mia, Jack's sidekick and best friend who is an ex-con named Theo and along with several others. Nothing is as it originally seems in the beginning of the book and Mr. Grippando leads you quickly from one twist to another to a quite surprising ending. I look forward to more Jack Swyteck novels and going out and finding his previous books. I would highly recommend this book to any mystery reader.
