BOOK REVIEW: HER WAY:
Depending on how you feel about Hillary Clinton, you will either love or hate this book. The authors have conducted hundred of interviews with friends, aides, etc. to gather material to put this book together. It is obvious that they have done much research.
The book gives the reader some information on Hillary’s younger years. What I did not know is that when she attended Wesley College, she wanted to quit. She felt she did not fit in with the other students. Her father told her to come home but her mother would have no part of it. Hillary stayed and went on to be elected to the student government.
The book continues with Hillary’s years at Yale, her meeting and falling in love with Bill Clinton and highlights her career right up to her present job of U.S. Senator.
I have read many reports that state this book is a very negative book about Hillary Clinton. I would have to disagree with those statements. Yes, there are some negative points in the book such as Whitewater, the Bill Clinton affair, etc. I feel that if anyone is writing a book about someone, the positive and negative points will be brought out in the open. If not, the book would be one-sided and that is something people would not want to read. The authors mention that the Clintons had a “secret pact” where they would each be President of the U.S. for eight years. What is wrong with that? It sounds like a true politicians to me. This book points out many of Hillary’s accomplishments and gives her credit for hard work to get the job done. All in all, I found this audio book very interesting. Whether or not one agrees with the authors is totally up to the individual. I, myself, don’t think they made a very impressive argument if they were trying to prove that Hillary would do anything to make things go “her way”. I feel she is a person who is very dedicated, ambitious and confident in her beliefs that she is doing the right thing. My recommendation is that everyone should read this book even if just for discussion purposes. It would be a great topic around the morning “water coolers”.
