BOOK REVIEW: VANISH |
|
“Detective Jane Rizzoli is pregnant. She is not supposed to be working since she is due any day. On a routine visit to the hospital for tests, Jane runs into trouble with a capital T. She is taken hostage and in her pregnant condition, nothing goes normal, even for the hostage takers.
Maura Isles is a medical examiner. She is only doing her routine job when a supposed corpse shows signs of life! The “body” is rushed to the hospital; yes, you've guessed it; the same hospital at which Jane is being held hostage. When the dead person becomes a part of the hostage situation, no one knows where to turn next.
A normal run-of-the-mill story? Not on your life. The action starts on the first page and does not let up until you are finished with the entire book. Jane’s husband is an FBI agent. Of course he is worried sick over Jane’s pregnancy and how her condition is while a hostage. When those “bad ones” in charge of the ER find out that Jane is a cop, things get even better.
Add some immigration problems, tie them in with all of the above, you have an idea of how exciting “Vanish” is. I have always liked Tess Gerritsen’s books but, in my opinion, this one tops them all. Follow all the story lines and clues and see if you come up with the answer as to who has done what and who will make it through the story ALIVE!
