The
Addison family always spent their summer retreats on Lake
Michigan. Eleven years ago, Maddie Addison's infant daughter
died in the crib at this summer house. She has not been home
since this time.
Maddie now lives in New York and works as a
documentary filmmaker. She received a call from her sister,
Dana, informing her that their mother had suffered a stroke and was
dying. She now had to go back home after all these
years.
When Maddie arrives, she has to face many other
relatives including cousins and a niece. Maddie must now face
the past and at the same time contemplate her future.
How does Maddie handle her return home after eleven years of
being distant from her relatives?
Terry Gamble has written a
compassionate novel about family relationships. She makes the
reader feel like they are right there in the middle of the summer
house listening to everything being told about their past
relationships. The characters are memorable and at times
funny. This is an excellent read and one you should add to
your reading list.
