King Akhenaten has instituted many religious changes that he feels are needed. His wife is Queen Nefertiti, who is known as beautiful and charismatic and the "Perfect One". Together they have created the changes about to take place.

A power struggle was taking place and the priesthood was stripped of its authority and wealth. To add to all of this, the army was enraged over the growing turbulence in the empire.

King Akhenaten decided it was time to impose these changes and he wanted to do this with a big celebration. Ten days before the big celebration, a major problem developed. The Queen disappears. What has happened to her? King Akhenaten knows he needs her by his side at the celebration.

The King secretly assigns Rai Rahotep, the youngest chief detective in the Thebes division to investigate Queen Nefertiti's disappearance. Rai is given ten days to find the Queen. If he returns her in time for the celebration it will mean success for him. However, if he does not return the Queen, it will mean death to he and his family.

Is Rai Rahotep successful at finding Queen Nefertiti?

This is Nick Drake's debut novel and what a story he has to tell! He does an excellent job of taking the reader on their own personal tour of ancient Egypt. The book is a combination of a historical thriller and a detective story. The author does a wonderful job with the characters because they will really stand out for the reader. I was able to envision in my mind what the characters looked like with the author's descriptions. The story has an exciting plot with plenty of surprises. Be sure to add this one to your reading list. It is highly recommended.
