FBI counterterroism agent Nathan Donovan is called in to investigate the shooting death of a man in New York. There was something strange discovered at the murder scene - several dead fleas. These were not just your ordinary everyday fleas. They were the kind that could cause the bubonic plague. Where did these fleas come from and why were they all dead?

Donovan receives a call from an eighty-year-old man named Li. He has some story to tell Donovan. Li emphasized that he knows who put the fleas in the apartment - a Japanese scientist named Sato Matushita who is a bioterrorism expert. It also seems that Sato has a grudge against the United States due to the death of his sister during the war. His personal vendetta was to create a plague that would kill thousands of Americans.

Donovan has the help of Li in his search for Sato. It seems that Li has a personal agenda to fulfill also regarding Sato.

Is Donovan successful at finding Sato in this race against time?

Tim Downs has written an exciting thriller that will engross the reader. The plot is intriguing because it takes the reader through a "what if" adventure scenario. There are plenty of twists and suspense to the story and the reader will be very entertained in this race to stop Sato from doing something devastating to the United States. This book is highly recommended.
