I am sure that anyone who has ever traveled by airplane has often wondered about whom the passenger would be sitting next to him or her for several hours. Will it be someone you like? Will it be some you dislike? Maybe it will be someone you will fall in love with!

Peter Russell is a man who believes he could possibly meet the love of his life this way. He is on a flight from New York to Los Angeles. As each passenger comes down the isle looking for his or her seat, Peter wonders if this particular person is going to be sitting with him.

Finally, the person who would be sitting next to him does arrive. Her name is Holly. Peter takes quite a bit of time to observe Holly. He gives the reader detailed descriptions of what he sees. He kept trying to think of something worthwhile to say but everything sounded like a “line” until suddenly he heard her say “What Takes You to Los Angeles?” It’s funny because that is one of the lines he was considering using in order to start a conversation. Peter was quite impressed with Holly due to the fact that she was on page 500 of a book called ‘The Magic Mountain”.

After several hours on the plane, Holly and Peter really “hit it off”. Holly asks Peter if he would like to come over for dinner while in Los Angeles and hands him a sheet torn from her book with her first name and phone number.

When Peter arrived at his hotel, he decided to reach into his pocket to retrieve the piece of paper Holly had given him. Would you believe the paper was gone! He had no way of contacting Holly since he only had her first name. Peter must now return to New York.

Will Holly and Peter ever meet again?

This book reminds me of the kind of movies we once had in the “good old days”. Remember movies like the ones with Rock Hudson and Doris Day? They were the nice romantic and funny ones we enjoyed so much. The author creates a great cast of characters even though they each have their own imperfections. Peter Russell is a character you will love. I’m sure all of the women today would like to meet a romantic like him. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good entertaining and old fashion type romantic story with a touch of humor.
