This
book is John Burdett's follow-up to Bangkok 8.
Royal
Thai police detective Sonchai Jitpleecheep is called in to
investigate a murder. It is not just any murder but turns out
to be the body of a member of the CIA. The main suspect is
Chanya, a bar girl who works at the Old Man's Club which is owned by
both Sonchai's mother and his boss, Police Colonel Vikorn. As
Sonchai's mother states "killing customers is not good for
business".
As a result, Vikorn contrives a cover-up
that you would not believe. It involves the Al Queda and
Thailand's southern border.
Sonchai doesn't realize
what he is in for as he begins his investigation. This murder
is much more complicated then anyone thought it to be.
Is
Sonchai successful at solving this murder?
John Burdett has
done an excellent job of creating a novel that is exciting, fast
paced and filled with unique characters. The author is known
for many surprises, twists and turns and this book is no
exception. This is a great follow-up to Bangkok 8 and one that
you will enjoy. Be sure to add it to your reading
list.
